I am blessed to have grown up on the tropical island of Rarotonga. A career in mechatronic engineering has taken me from my paradise home to across the globe.
I love being an engineer and now that I'm a mum, I naturally want my little girls to enjoy the same opportunities and adventures possible with a career in STEM. I have sought out STEM books for bubs and am very pleased to find a myriad of options available. However, I still felt there was something missing... FUN. Little learners retain so much more with rhythm and rhyme.
So I'm creating a series of books aimed at introducing basic STEM concepts and terminology using what kids love most... Colors, Rhyme, and Imagination! First was 'Buzz the Electron', introducing electricity. Then 'Violet the Photon', showcasing electromagnetic waves. Followed by ‘Bucky the Carbon Atom', bringing chemistry to the table.
And now we find our selves in a most intriguing time in technological history as artificial intelligence enters the public domain. For example, this book, rhyme and all, was generated by the conversational online AI ‘ChatGPT’. While the Picasso-style painting of Ada was generated using Midjourney. This is seriously going to reshape the world as we know it. So here’s ‘Ada the AI’ to help our little ones keep up.
My children are my driving inspiration behind my books. In fact, if you’re lucky enough, you might see that my 3 year old has LITERALLY left her mark on Violet in space!
